SEW-IN:
Making Tote Bags for Clifton's Senior Citizens
10:30 am-3:00 pm
The Barn (Clifton Senior Center)
900 Clifton Ave., Clifton, NJ.
This coming Saturday, we will be having a “Sew-in” to make some much needed shopping bags for the seniors in our community.
We already have the fabric cut to size and all the serging has been done. We need your help in assembling them so that we can distribute them in October, shortly after our 25 Year Anniversary in September.
Supplies you’ll need to bring:
-
Your sewing machine and a power cord. No need for a serger, since that part is already completed.
-
Extra sewing machine needles (in case something happens to the one already in your machine.) The fabric we have is not a thin cotton, it’s more of a midweight or lighter weight canvas or heavier, so a moderately strong needle will work (80/12 or 90/14)
-
Thread: White, Black, or a light tan if you don’t have any white
-
Some hand sewing needles (just for tacking).
-
Small scissors for trimming loose threads. No need for larger ones, since fabric is already cut to size.
-
Straight pins (about 10 should be enough)
-
Iron/small Ironing board. We’ll be bringing an iron and small ironing board, but one extra iron/iron board would be helpful, since we’ll have an area just for pressing/ironing.
Bring a bite to eat, since we plan to take a lunch break.

Guests are welcome!
