2010 National ASG Community Service Project:

  • U.S. Troops Drawstring Bag
    1. Operation Care Package is a non-profit organization that receives, fills, and mails drawstring bags to deployed service men and women from all branches of the armed forces.
    2. The 14" drawstring bag pattern for this project was designed by Laura Martell of The Creative Thimble, and hold a filled gallon baggie.
    3. The troops use the bags for personal use and some pass them onto the children in Iraq.
    4. When finished, your Neighborhood Group or the North Jersey Chapter will send the bags to Operation Care Package, 611 Wilcox Street, Joliet, IL 60435.

    National ASG Event:

  • The 2010 National Convention
    1. Location: Atlanta, GA
    2. Dates: August 4-8, 2010
    3. Creativity Contest: To Be Announced in the Spring issue of Notions
    4. Special Exhibits: (1) An Art Bra Exhibit from the Way to Women's Wellness Foundation (www.artbra.org); (2) A Handweavers Guild of America Exhibit showcasing the Designers' Challenges from their 2008-2010 conferences; (3) Clothing, quilts, and dolls from the 2009 Hoffman Challenge; and (4) A Bernina Fashion Show Exhibit with garments from many of ASG's talented members.
    5. Conference Brochure: ASG Members will not automatically receive the conference brochure in the mail. If you would like a paper copy, there is a $3 charge which will be credited toward your conference registration. To obtain it, mail a check to ASG, 9660 Hillcroft, Suite 510, Houston, TX 77096 or fax credit card into to: 713-721-9230. The brochure will be available for mailing March 31st. The conference calendar and registration form will be included in the Spring issue of Notions.

  • 2010 Spring Fling was held April 24, 2010

    2. Location: Hilton Garden Inn, Rockaway, NJ

  • Shirley Adams Trunk Show & Seminar
    1. Date: May 15, 2010; 9:30am - 4:30pm
    2. Speaker: Shirley Adams. Come join us at Shirley Adams' 6-hour trunk show & seminar. The day will include tips such as trapunto, faux chenile, hand weaving, perfect hang, elegant embellishments, dart substitutes, couching, and limitless ideas and inspiration. Shirley's pattern line, "Alternatives", offers a few master patterns with many interchangeable pieces to produce whatever style you want. Shirley's patterns and one-of-a-kind bags will be for sale.
    3. Lunch: Please bring your own lunch. A beverage will be provided.

    5. Fee: $20 for ASG Members, $25 for Non-members -- AFTER MAY 5th: $25/ASG members & $30/Non-Members

  • 2010 Annual Birthday Bash/ Chapter Annual Meeting
    1. Date: Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 1:00 - 4:00pm
    2. Featured Speaker: Daryl Lancaster, an amazing weaver, designer, and sewer!
    3. Fashion Show Categories: To Be Determined
    4. 2009 Challenge: To Be Determined.
    5. Annual Elections for the North Jersey Chapter Advisory Board (CAB).
    6. Swap: Bring a sewing item to recycle such as fabric (at least 1 yard), notions, books, etc.
    7. Location: The Barn, Clifton Municipal Complex, Dogpound Road, Clifton, NJ
